A system consists of a computer module (transmitter) and a user module (receiver) and uses CAT-x cables or optical fibres to transmit USB signals up to 500 m or 10,000 m. USB 3.0 signals are transmitted via optical fibre only.

USB Ranger signal extender systems extend USB signals up to USB 3.0.

A system consists of a computer module (transmitter) and a user module (receiver) and uses CAT-x cables or optical fibres to transmit USB signals up to 500 m or 10,000 m. USB 3.0 signals are transmitted via optical fibre only.

  • Distances up to 10,000 m for USB 2.0 (2 × singlemode 9/125µm fiber optics)
  • Distances up to 500 m for USB 2.0 (2 × multimode 50/125µm fiber optics)
  • Distances up to 275 m for USB 2.0 (2 × multimode 62.5/125µm fiber optics)
  • Distances up to 100 m for USB 2.0 (CAT-x cable; x = 5, 6, 7)
  • Distances up to 50 m for USB 3.0 (2 × multimode 50/125µm fiber optics)
  • Distances up to 15 m only for USB 3.0 (active copper cable)
  • Transparent transmission of USB 1.1 up to USB 3.0
